My mom now owns five CD's. Three of them are American Idol related. All were purchased in the last nine days.

There's something about seeing her so happy about the fact that technology has advanced in such a way that she can listen to whatever song she wants without fast forwarding, rewinding, or picking a new groove on a record that makes me smile.

The only thing that confuses me? She knows how to download, create her own American Idol screensaver and background, but she honestly asked me today, "What's a file?" when I told her that to print her text document out she had to put the file on a disk so that she could bring it to the computer equipped with a computer.

Sometimes the easiest things can be the most complex. Now if we could only train my dad to shut the back door or the screen door when he exits the house to prevent the insects from flying around the kitchen light.
