June 19, 2003 // 7:01 a.m. // What's wrong with this picture? (Picture to follow soon)

The reason for the lack of updates? You see, from 11:00 to 7:00 every day since Saturday, our cable and therfore internet has been operating sparingly. It cuts in and out in perfect time.

Oh. And one other reason. My dad knocked the cable line out.

After five days of blinking cable, the cable guys finally agreed to come out and look at it. I looked outside just after noon yesterday and saw the cable truck directly across the street. Finally it will be fixed, right?

Wrong.

Three hours later there are two cable trucks and they are both about four houses down. What was the most frustrating was knowing we had called them to work on our line and having them right across the street from us and them not being able to do anything about it due to our appointment being scheduled for Saturday. Needless to say we weren't too thrilled about another three days with spotty cable and internet.

Due to the inability to watch television, I resorted to movies and old tapes and had no clue that just hours before my dad had knocked the cable line out while cutting the massive tree in our backyard meaning that we had no cable at all, spotty or not. And with the cable company not scheduled until Saturday, we would now find ourselves cableless for three more days.

Knowing my father, one shouldn't be surprised that he's cutting down a 30-40 foot tall tree with a trunk with a comparible girth to a curb side garbage can by himself. He went out and bought a chainsaw, grabbed some rope, cleared the cars out of the driveway, and began cutting away. Still, there is something about seeing someone who was at least half responsible for your birth 30 feet in the air on the shaky reminants of the branches he has previously cut that makes you wish you had the $500 to pay a professional to do the job.

I took pictures with a film camera, but having found the digital, I'll do that to give you an idea of just what I mean.
