September 24, 2002 // 9:25 p.m. // I'm home, but my car is across the street
Just a few quick notes before I drift off to bed... I have just returned home from a two hour trip that sent me to two Media Play's, a Circuit City and a Best Buy all for a DVD that was supposed to come out today but apparently didn't. And I would have bought Beck's Sea Change, but I'm a little leery of all of the good reviews it's getting. They all seem to say, "new sound." I liked his old sound just fine. The Caprice, the biggest car in front of our house, has a flat. That means we cannot drive it. Because we cannot drive it, it sits in front of the house rather than in the driveway. Did I mention it's the biggest car we own? We've had room in the driveway ever since we moved my old car. We currently have four cars in front of our house, and due to our neighbors huge mini van, huge sedan and huge truck, they're also taking up more room than they're allowed. I guess to avoid confusion, I'll give you a visual. Our Wrangler is in front of the neighbor on the left's house. In front of ours is the Pontiac and the Caprice. There is no room for my car, which is currently parked across the street. This could all be avoided if we parked one (preferrably the Caprice since its plates are expired and it is rarely driven anyway) in the driveway. Then we'd have room for all three cars in front of our house and we wouldn't have to park next door and across the street. But that wouldn't prevent my dad from using my car as a target. You see, he has terrible depth perception, and doesn't know when to stop backing up while parallel parking until he hits another car. True story. You should see my bumper and how nochalantly he gets out of his vehicle after just smacking into one of ours as if there is nothing wrong with what he's done. We need to have a talk about that and the driveway thing. Perhaps I should say these things aloud rather than composing them?
