June 15, 2004 // 10:10 a.m. // Just like American Idol

Note: If you aren't a fan of or don't care about the show Superstar USA, you'll probably be bored or annoyed. Just a heads up. You don't have to continue.

For those of you who have never seen the WB's Superstar USA, a brief description and synopsis of the finale: The show is very much like American Idol, even down to the mean Simon-like judge (Briggs) and the sweet Paula-like judge (Vitamin C). There's a stage, a live audience, judges comments after each performance and an interview after they perform. Just like Idol, to choose these people, auditions in front of the judges were held in various cities across the country. The only thing is the contestants assume they'll make it if they're good. Actually, the show is looking for the worst singers in America. The only difference between this and Idol is on this show, you have a whole lot of bad singers who are told they're good.

Actually, that makes it just like American Idol.

So from the beginning, I've said there are two singers that are the absolute worst. Rosa and Mario. And who makes it to the final three? Rosa and Mario. Those two were a no brainer. Unfortunately, joining the no brainers and advancing to the final three with them was a girl with no brain, Jamie. Jamie was the girl with not just the best voice of the three, but the best voice of all twelve on the show.

So, just when you think Jamie's gone because she didn't butcher Aretha's Respect as badly as Rosa butchered Destiny's Child's Bootylicious, they decide to eliminate perhaps the worst singer I've ever heard, Rosa.

And then there were two:

And you see where this is going, right? If they're going to cut the worst singer, and other singers that are worse than a girl in the finals, there is no other logical conclusion than to...

...let Jamie win.

So for this I say shame on you Tone Loc. Shame on you Vitamin C. Shame on you Briggs. Shame on you B(rian) "Seacrest" McFayden. Shame on you WB.

Shame on you all for having a nationwide talent search for the worst singer in North America and letting the big breasted moderately bad singer advance to Hollywood...

And for letting her advance to the final twelve...

And then the final eight...

And then the final four...

And then to the final group of three...

And finally to the final two.

Shame on you for taking the easy way out. For advancing the cute (she really isn't that cute) big busted Jessica Simpson look-alike.

For picking her as the winner over the two worst singers (the other two finalists) one of whom (Rosa) was probably the worst singer that I have ever heard.

"We really weren't looking for America's best singer"

You're right. You were looking for a hot girl who is marketable.

wait...did she just blow off the fact that they said "you're a horrible singer?" I guess if they give you $10,000 to come in second and embarass yourself horribly on national television, it's all worth it. The contestants seemed fine with it.

Go to Amazon and you can listen for yourself. Click on Jamie's version of "Fallin,'" Mario's version of "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" and Rosa's version of "Bootylicious" and *honestly* tell me that Jamie sings worse than the two of them. I mean, Rosa doesn't even know the words. I'm no Destiny's Child expert, but as far as I know, Beyonce doesn't sing, "gotta work the jelly, work the jelly"

Shame on you WB. But more importantly, shame on me. For actually believing that the unique, unattractive and untalented could win a contest that was geared toward the unique, unattractive and untalented.
