July 08, 2002 // 8:45 a.m. // Gifts from India

It's been 82 degrees since 5:30 this morning. The temperature hasn't changed. But at least it's not as hot as it was in India, where there wasn't a day under 110 the entire time he was there.

Speaking of which, he brought gifts! Tons of them from India, some that really surprised me. We were genuinely surprised, because we only expected post cards. But here's what G got us:

Handmade shoes that were made as big as the guy could make. They still don't fit, but I like them.

A shirt (that is extremely long) that also came with matching pants. Apparently, quite comfortable, as it is very light and thin. Maybe good for pajamas?

A detailed look at the shirt above.

A cloth spread that is much better in person, due to dozens of glued on beads. The photo truly does it no justice.

Various items, such as a Mercedes emblem, a toy and a bottle opener and key chain from their company over there.

100 Rupees. No word yet on the approximate United States value.

A pen, which was one of my favorite items. It's made of wood, and has faux precious stones.

A detailed look at pen above. Notice the stones and the head of the bird.

Quite the variety of items. And I have no clue where to put most of them. But I enjoy them a great deal, and may put some of the items on.
